popular attraction in the Yarra Valley, and Sanctuary Park Cottages

Jazz in the Vines and the grape grazing weekend all add to the attraction
of these popular venues.

scattered through the region. Monthly markets are held in a number of nearby
local communities. |

Markets abound, and you
can buy direct from grower, producer or maker. Join in the fun of a traditional
local village market. Dates and locations are available from Sanctuary Park
Cottages. |

| Ballooning
is a popular activity
taking advantage of the Yarra Valley climate and picturesque scenery. A
number of companies operate in the area and bookings can be arranged with
sufficient notice. Be warned that an early morning rise is necessary, however
this is more than compensated for by the spectacular sunrise over the ranges. Maroondah Dam is part of the Melbourne water supply system and as well as being educational also provides pleasant surroundings for picnics and family activities, and is just a short drive up the Black Spur road to the North of Healesville. Many scenic walks originate from the dam area, or from either of Badger or Donnelly weirs |

Badger Weir provides easy access to examples of dense Australian bush, plants and trees, as well as the many native birds, which visit the area and can be seen up close. The area also provides picnic facilities. The picnic and bird area is within a few kilometres of Sanctuary Park Cottages.

| Warburton Trail is a 35
kilometre walking and bike-riding trail between Warburton and Lilydale and
can be reached by a 9 kilometre car trip from Sanctuary Park Cottages. The
trail has been constructed following the old train track used by logging
trains for many years. The path meanders through a variety of natural
environments, providing easy access to spectacular scenery while also
providing the opportunity for some exercise. . |

| Toolangi
Forest and the CJ Denis
singing gardens are a short drive from Healesville. The small township of
Toolangi, approximately 20 minutes drive from Sanctuary Park Cottages, sits
among the mighty Mountain Ash forests of the Great Dividing Range. At Toolangi
you can experience the total forest story, from its beginnings to today's
mighty trees. |
Ride or walk the Trail |
| Lake
Mountain is the
closest place to Melbourne to see the snow when it falls and the area
provides for both serious activities as well as bit of fun. At other times
of the year, Lake Mountain also provides attractions for bush walking,
wildlife and wildflowers.
Travel to Lake Mountain is an easy 1 hour drive from Sanctuary Park Cottages on good roads, with hire of equipment available at either Marysville or Narbethong on the way. After your fun in the snow
return to your Cottage where your fire will be going to provide that warm
welcoming atmosphere. Drying facilities are available if needed. |

| Bush
Walking opportunities
abound in the natural forests around the area and these walks provide the
opportunity to experience the Australian bush and its many inhabitants up
close and safely. In season many wildflowers growing in their natural habitat
add to the attraction of this pastime. Areas to visit in close proximity
include Toolangi Forest, Lake Mountain, Cathedral Ranges and Kinglake, while
Lake Eildon is also accessible. |

| Puffing
Billy Steam Railway provides
the unique opportunity to experience part of the local history just as it
was nearly 100 years ago. Puffing Billy travels on a narrow gauge line from
Belgrave to Gembrook and can be reached from Sanctuary Park Cottages in
forty minutes drive through spectacular country side and delightful local
communities. Many of these communities offer further attractions for the
tourist. |

| Hedgend Mazehas a number of activities to keep the whole family
entertained for hours. As well as the Maze there are a number of
other challenging activities and a theme room for parties or special
family gatherings.
Hedgend Maze, two quite separate and challenging mazes, a
"Treasure Hunt", Mini Golf, Frisbee Golf and a wide range of
other activities make Hedgend Maze a great destination for hours of fun. |
